Window cleaning advice, without the fluff

We've replaced years of thin blog posts with a smaller set of guides that actually answer what homeowners ask us.

How often should Northeast Ohio windows be cleaned?

Twice a year suits most homes here: spring to clear off the pollen and salt-laden winter grime, and fall to head into winter with clear glass. Homes on busy roads, near fields, or under heavy tree cover often want a third visit.

Why streaks happen — and how pros avoid them

Streaks come from dirty water, worn squeegee rubber, and cleaning hot glass in direct sun. We change water often, keep fresh rubber on the channel, and work a house shade-side first so the solution isn't drying before the blade reaches it.

Hard water spots and what can actually be removed

Sprinkler overspray and runoff leave mineral deposits that ordinary washing won't touch. Fresh deposits usually come off with an acidic restoration treatment. Deposits that have etched into the glass over years can't be fully removed by anyone — and we'll tell you that honestly instead of charging you to find out.

Screens and tracks: the part most people forget

A spotless pane behind a grey screen still looks dirty. Screens should be removed, washed and dried, and sills and tracks vacuumed and wiped. It's included in our residential window cleaning rather than sold as an add-on.

Water-fed poles vs. hand cleaning

Hand cleaning with soap and a squeegee is best wherever we can safely reach. For upper floors with awkward footing, a water-fed pole running purified water rinses spot-free and keeps a ladder off soft ground and landscaping. Good crews use both, chosen per window.

Getting your house ready for a cleaning

Clear sills of plants and knick-knacks, unlock windows we'll be doing inside, and let us know about any panes that are cracked or painted shut. Pets are fine — just tell us where the doors will be opening.
